Building Your Reputation And Keeping It Up

If you are thinking about going into business, or you are already in it, then you should know that having a solid reputation is one of most important things to have in this world. Without the necessary skills to manage your reputation, you run the risk of losing everything that you worked so hard to attain.

Don't let your reputation go bad in the business world, and the tips below will help see to it that never happens. Make sure that at least several of your business web pages are optimised for your business name.

You want Google to recognise your business homepage as the authoritative Internet site about your business. You want to have the number one search position for your business name, not number two or three behind a Wikipedia article or some blog.

Make sure that your website is the first listing someone sees when they Google your brand. Have a portfolio of websites you can optimise with search engines.

It will seem natural to try and make your business web site the number one search listing for your business name, when used as a search query. However, do not stop there. Try to have ten of your business web pages become the top ten search results for your brand name. Block everyone else out.

Post moderation guidelines on each of your websites and social media sites. By posting guidelines, your visitors will know what is and what is not acceptable responses on your website and social media sites. If someone posts something that is not within the guidelines, remove the post and give an explanation of why the post was removed.

Try searching for your company online like your customers would. It is possible that doing searches on your computer may yield very different results than your potential customers. This may be due to your personalization options. Try turning off these options to get a better idea of your search engine results. To maintain a good reputation, you must learn when you should respond.

If a negative review of your business pops up, you must know what to do. If the complaint is legitimate, try responding privately and publicly to it. Try offering solutions like a refund.

Try to avoid becoming angry or calling the review fake since it can make you look bad. Keep in mind that your online and in-person reputations both matter just as much. There are many people that are great in person yet they are not very great with customers over the Internet.

You should be nice either way since you have no idea if this customer will spread negative information that can destroy you. Now that you read the above article, understanding what it takes to have a good reputation in the business world is a good first step towards being successful.

Without the proper reputation management skills, eventually you will make a critical mistake that will hurt you in business. Use the advice from above to help you get far in the business world.
